Devour Music

Introducing Yardbird Sessions! Premiered on BBC Radio 3's 'Round Midnight by Jordan Rakei, our first instalment presents Richard Spaven, legendary UK drummer, and master of combining hip-hop, jazz, drum & bass, and electronic aesthetics through a lens of polyrhythmic mystery, with machine-like accuracy and an elegant touch. Spaven now takes his latest album ‘Sole Subject’ on the road, featuring compositions that defy genre and elevate his eclectic sound to the next level. When not playing his own music, Spaven can be found performing & collaborating among the likes of UK rapper Loyle Carner, Pianist Alfa Mist, Guru of hip-hop duo Gang Starr, producer Flying Lotus, jazz/hip-hop vocalist José James and Brainfeeder artist Jameszoo. 00:00 - Helsinki Trio 04:45 - Alfama 11:55 - Find Peace Within 15:10 - Show Me What You Got (end credits) Richard Spaven - Drums Yves Fernandez - Bass Stuart McCallum - Guitar Directed & Produced by Finlay O'Hara Recorded & Mixed by Gillie Rowland Filmed by Margaux Contant, Matthew Tyler-Howells, and Finlay O'Hara Edited by Finlay O'Hara Filmed in Cardiff, UK - March 2025 www.yardbirdcardiff.co.uk #yardbird #yardbirdcardiff #richardspaven #spaven #spaventrio #yvesfernandez #stuartmccallum #livesession #yardbirdsessions #livemusic #livejazz #cardiff #cardiffjazz #kingsroadyard #pontcanna #yamahadrums #meinlcymbals
