If you enjoy Renaissance music, then we have a treat for you! In "The Book of Madrigals,” the Amarcord ensemble presents a diverse collection of madrigals by Renaissance composers from around Europe. The group's five singers perform both a cappella and with a small instrumental ensemble consisting of Hille Perl (viola da gamba, guitar), Lee Santana (guitar and theorbo) and Michael Metzler (percussion). The 18 secular Renaissance songs were recorded on April 1, 2014, in and around Villa Godi in Northern Italy. You're sure to enjoy this collection of some of the best-known and most beautiful madrigals of the 16th century, including fiery declarations of love, deep sorrow at parting, erotic allusions, and bawdy humor, presented in a picturesque setting!
