Ramsey Thornton arrives like a fixed point on the map. Not a landmark you pose next to, but the kind you navigate by when everything else shifts. This session stands as a record of that presence, set down for later listeners to find.
We filmed on a windy day in Tulsa, close enough to a trainyard that the environment never quite felt still. Between takes there were small human interruptions, banter lost to the gusts, and long pauses where everyone stood still, waiting on the elements to allow the song to surface.
The wind and the trains were primary collaborators that day. Both moved through the frame and mics on their own schedules, interrupting and insisting, a steady reminder of where we were and why this could only happen there. The song lives in that same tension, the moment when something keeps moving forward while the person inside it has come to a halt.
This is Ramsey Thornton in Tulsa, Oklahoma, documented where steel tracks cut through open space and the weather refuses to stay out of the frame.
Lyrics:
I had no choice on Riverside
Saw it in the last few moments of its life
There was no way that I could stop
But now I am frozen
Now I can't get past the thought
This doesn't feel very fair at all
I know that there must be a spot
In heaven and he is chosen
Now all I wanna do is just pull over
Turn off my radio and sit here for an hour
When I left home today I figured I'd just keep hanging out
This has come up often in conversation
Speak up in confidence for whatever reason
List my accomplishments while I'm on a call
This doesn't seem very fair at all
Slam on the breaks
That's all it would've taken and we would go on with our day
But do you know how to make
The call in that situation
Now all I wanna do is just pull over
Turn off my radio and sit here for an hour
When I left home today I figured I'd just keep hanging out
Take your place and pay my dues
I'm okay with being the one to lose
Hide my face while you get to chose
I'm okay with being the one to lose
Take your place and pay my dues
I'm okay with being the one to lose
Hide my face while you get to chose
I'm okay with being the one to lose
Now all I wanna do is just pull over
Turn off my radio and sit here for an hour
Now all I wanna do is just pull over
Turn off my radio and sit here for an hour
