Devour Music

The Iván “Melón” Lewis Trio inaugurates the Black Musics series with this recital on the golden age of Havana music. Combining bolero, Afro-Cuban song, and the legacy of Creole piano, the program recreates melodies by Ernesto Lecuona, “Bola de Nieve,” and Miguel Matamoros, and closes with a tribute to the recently deceased Pablo Milanés as the modern heir to this hybrid and mestizo musical tradition.
