Cecilia Bartoli, Simon Rattle, BP - Handel: "Lascia la spina cogli la rosa" (Aria of Pleasure)
We look forward to Cecilia Bartoli's 60th birthday next week on 4 June as she also celebrates her 40th stage anniversary this year. Watch her sing Handel's aria "Lascia la spina cogli la rosa" (Leave the thorn, pluck the rose) from Handel's oratorio Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno (The Triumph of Time and Disillusion), composed in 1707. Simon Rattle conducts the Berliner Philharmoniker in their New Year's Eve concert of 2012.
