Thinking About You
In May, I was at home alone, having finished teaching my piano students for the day. I had a few minutes to myself and sat down at the piano, without any intention of writing music. I simply wanted to relax and look forward to my wife coming home in about 20 minutes. Almost completely as you hear it on the recording, I ended up improvising this piece in those few minutes.
The title "Thinking About You" comes from my heart, and it's very personal to me. However, I believe it can also be meaningful for everyone who thinks about a loved one and the emotions that come with it – perhaps a little bit of loneliness if they aren't home, maybe a bit of longing... the warmth of knowing your connection with them, and that sense of peace and comfort that you have when you're together.
I hope you hear stuff like that in this music, and I hope it transports you to that kind of mental and emotional place – at least for the 5 minutes that you're listening, and hopefully for a bit longer.
