Ernesto Halffter: Habanera | Albert Guinovart · MarchVivo
Numerous Spanish composers, from Albéniz to Esplá and from Falla to Montsalvatge, have been inspired by Cuban music. Ernesto Halffter, who visited the island in 1932, incorporated the characteristic syncopated rhythm of the habanera into his widely known 'Habanera', one of his Two Cuban Pieces, which in turn formed part of the soundtrack to Bambú, a comedy starring Imperio Argentina set during the Cuban War.
