Nobuyuki Tsujii - Sakamoto: Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence
Nobuyuki Tsujii brings his luminous sound and deeply expressive touch to Ryuichi Sakamoto’s 'Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence' in this performance recorded in Berlin in 2025.
Originally written for Nagisa Ōshima’s landmark 1983 film, the theme’s haunting melody has become one of the most recognisable in modern cinema. Sakamoto’s BAFTA-winning score finds an intimate voice at the piano, its tenderness and quiet longing illuminated by Nobu’s sensitive playing.
