About Diego Rivera:
Saxophonist, composer, and Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Texas at Austin expands the diaspora of jazz through his musical celebration of the multi-cultural traditions and observances of Día de los Muertos with his creation of his latest composition and album, “Ofrenda.” Commissioned by Chamber Music America’s 2022 New Jazz Works, this thoughtful program is a 10-movement suite dedicated to this rich tradition of honoring the lives and souls of lost loved ones. The performances within "Ofrenda" will captivate jazz enthusiasts, encouraging them to explore the magic and mysteries of this musical journey with amazement and delight.
