Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1750) published the Partita No. 2 in C minor (BWV 826) in 1727.

• The 2nd Partita for a solo keyboard instrument is a six-movement suite.
• Form: six-movement suite, popular instrumental genre during the Baroque period.
• Movements were usually based on dances in the style of different countries.

Bach's Partita No. 2 for keyboard:

• Opens with a three-part sinfonia: dramatic and meaningful overture, playful prelude (01:06), and concludes with a fugue for three voices (03:01).

Partita No. 2 is the second piece in a series of six partitas (BWV 825 - 830)

• Bach published the six partitas under the title “Clavier-Übung 1” in 1731.
• The first “Clavier-Übung” was followed by three further collections of pieces for keyboard instruments.
