Overcoming Writer's Block
The phenomenon of writer's block seems to be a common occurrence lately, and the more I put myself under high expectations, the worse it gets. It takes some time to accept that sometimes we need a break from our creative pursuits.
Here are some steps I take when faced with writer's block:
- Take a break
- Pick up an instrument, but not necessarily the one you're trying to write about (in this case, my guitar).
- Try something else entirely: take a walk, read a book, meditate, or engage in some physical activity.
- When I'm ready to come back, try approaching the task from a fresh perspective.
