Could I Play Bass With Charlie Puth? | Light Switch
We're back with another "could I play bass with" video and this time it's Charlie Puth's Light Switch.
Very simple chord progression with just four chords, but there are some interesting things with the form where the time kind of pauses for a moment, and that was probably the biggest challenge in terms of nailing the timing for the take.
- There are very few musicians credited on the entire album according to Wikipedia, and zero bass players.
I'm going to go with my ear that the original is all programmed, and who knows what, if any, of my part on this take would have made it on the final song had I been in the studio.
As always this is just great practice for the ear to learn the song as fast as possible, and for the focus of being able to do it in as few takes as possible. I had a kind of false start when I first hit record, so you're technically hearing take 2 of 2 even though I didn't get more than a few bars in the first time around due to a camera issue.
